Mahindra SUV sales 2026 Breaks Records – SUVs That Are Taking Over India!
In a year where the Indian automobile market roared louder than ever, one name stood tallest on the podium — Mahindra & Mahindra. With record-breaking wholesales, a commanding lineup, and an electric revolution quietly brewing in the background, the Mumbai-based automaker has cemented its position as India’s undisputed SUV powerhouse.
The Big Picture: Record 6.6 Lakh SUVs in FY2026
Mahindra & Mahindra suv sales 2026 registered record wholesales of 6,60,276 SUVs in FY2026, a 20% year-on-year surge, propelling it to the No. 2 rank in India’s passenger vehicle market — ahead of Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India.
Four brands — Scorpio, Thar, Bolero, and 3XO — each sold over 1,00,000 units in FY2026, compared to just two such brands the previous year. That’s not just growth. That’s a statement.
1. Scorpio — The King That Never Left the Throne

If there is one nameplate that defines Mahindra’s DNA, it is the Scorpio. Rugged, commanding, and beloved by millions across urban streets and rural highways alike, this legendary SUV continued its reign in FY2026.
The Scorpio N and Classic combined sold 1,78,800 units — up 8% year-on-year — with a 27% share of Mahindra’s total SUV portfolio, making it the company’s single best-selling model.
In November 2025 alone, the Mahindra Scorpio clocked 15,616 units, a 23% growth over the same month last year. Powered by a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, with available 4×4 capability on the Scorpio N, it remains one of the most capable off-roaders under ₹25 lakh — a segment it practically owns.
2. Thar & Thar Roxx — The Lifestyle Revolution

The Thar story in FY2026 is nothing short of cinematic. What started as a niche off-roader for the adventurous few has exploded into a mainstream phenomenon.
The Thar brand jumped seven ranks in the overall Indian utility vehicle market — from No. 15 in FY2025 to No. 8 in FY2026 — driven largely by the Thar Roxx, which is estimated to account for 65% of the brand’s total sales.
In December 2025, the Thar and Thar Roxx together sold 9,339 units, up from 7,659 units in December 2024, continuing to enjoy strong demand. With its Dolby Atmos audio, panoramic sunroof, and legendary 4×4 capability, the Thar Roxx has redefined what a lifestyle SUV can be in India.
3. Bolero — The Indestructible Workhorse

While newer models grab headlines, the Bolero quietly continues its 25-year dominance as the go-to SUV for semi-urban and rural India.
The Bolero brand — which includes the Bolero and Bolero Neo Plus — sold 1,10,136 units in FY2026, up 16% year-on-year, retaining its No. 3 spot in Mahindra’s SUV lineup with a 17% model-wise share.
In November 2025, Bolero sold 10,521 units, a testament to its enduring appeal with a reliable diesel engine and low maintenance costs. It is the SUV that built India’s trust in Mahindra — and it still delivers.

4. XUV 3XO — The Compact Contender

In a fiercely competitive compact SUV segment that includes the Nexon, Brezza, and Venue, the XUV 3XO punches well above its weight.
The 3XO sold 1,03,341 units in FY2026, crossing the one-lakh mark and holding a 16% share of Mahindra’s portfolio. Packed with features typically found in vehicles twice its price — including a panoramic sunroof, ADAS safety suite, and a premium sound system — it has made Mahindra a serious player in the sub-₹15 lakh space.
5. XUV700 — The Flagship That Defined a Generation

The XUV700 transformed Mahindra’s image when it launched. For the first time, buyers had a made-in-India SUV that could genuinely compete with Korean and Japanese rivals on features, performance, and refinement.
The XUV700 sold 87,412 units in FY2026, holding a 13% share of Mahindra’s SUV pie. A slight dip is attributed to sales transitioning toward its updated successor, the newly launched XUV 7XO. With its AdrenoX connected technology, optional ADAS, and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine, it remains a benchmark in the mid-size SUV space.
Bonus: The Electric Storm — BE 6 & XEV 9e
Mahindra isn’t just winning the present — it’s building the future. The Born Electric SUVs — the BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S — collectively sold 43,649 units, a staggering 442% year-on-year growth, now accounting for 7% of M&M’s total SUV sales. India’s EV revolution just found its most exciting protagonist.

The Verdict
If FY2026 belongs to any single manufacturer, it is Mahindra. The homegrown SUV specialist secured three of the top four positions in India’s mid-SUV segment rankings.
From the dust-kicking Scorpio on village roads to the sleek BE 6 charging silently in a Bengaluru parking lot — Mahindra’s SUVs are everywhere. They are not just cars. They are a movement. And in FY2026, that movement has never been stronger.
“The calendar year 2025 ended on a positive note, with Mahindra clocking its highest-ever volumes in both SUVs and LCVs,” said Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division.
India’s roads have spoken. And they’ve chosen Mahindra.
